In order to provide better care for its members and to assist them in better understanding their own physical capabilities, the Boy Scouts of America requires everyone who participates in a Scouting event to have an annual medical evaluation by a licensed health-care provider such as a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. Limitations on certain activities should not be viewed as stumbling blocks. Instead, they are best viewed as stepping-stones toward safe and enjoyable adventures.
