Justin Chaillet Eagle Report
Justin Chaillet has been involved in scouting since he began as a Cub Scout in Pack 277 at the rank of Wolf. After earning his Arrow of Light, Justin continued his scouting career as he transitioned into the Boy Scout Troop 33 in Fanwood, New Jersey. For the past eight years since then, Justin has remained an active member of the Troop, going on almost every single camping trip and summer camp that the Troop offered. Within scouting, he has taken on many leadership roles, spending his earlier years as a Den Chief for pack 277 and his later years as a Quartermaster, Senior Patrol Leader, and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.
Justin earned the rank of Eagle Scout on June 1st, 2018. The primary goal of his Eagle project was to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining a clean watershed, specifically the Rahway Watershed which runs through New Jersey. To accomplish this, Justin personally and professionally designed and installed (with the help of Elevation Communications) two aluminum signs near the river that runs through the Fanwood Nature Center. For the second part of his project, Justin organized a cleanup of all the trash caught in the river in the Fanwood Nature Center in order to take steps to maintain a cleaner waterway for the future. Finally, Justin worked with Cub Scout Pack 277 by constructing a presentation in which the cub scouts learned methods of keeping our waterways healthy and clean.
Outside of Scouting, Justin recently graduated from the Scotch-Plains Fanwood High School and in the fall will be a part of the freshman class of 2022 at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. While in high school, Justin was a club leader for Students Concerned for the Needy, a student-run organization with the intent of providing food and support to those in need. Justin was a High Honor Roll student and a member of the National Honors Society. Since he has graduated, Justin continues to fence Sabre at Hub City Fencing Academy in Metuchen. In addition, Justin has been employed at the YMCA of Scotch Plains and continues to utilize his leadership skills garnered from Scouting as a Swim Instructor, Lifeguard, and Deck Supervisor.
